Kim Coulter, B.Tech.(Arch.Sc.) is President of Coulter Building Consultants Ltd., Consulting Engineers & Building Scientists. Mr. Coulter has an undergraduate degree in Architectural Science (Building Science) from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute (1978), and has been practicing in the field of Building Science Engineering for over 20 years. Mr. Coulter has presented seminars for the Canadian Condominium Institute (CCI), the University of Toronto (Continuing Education), PM Expo and private property management companies on various topics including Reserve Fund Studies, Technical Audits and Building Rehabilitation Engineering. Articles have been written by Mr. Coulter for the CCI Golden Horseshoe Chapter newsletter, the Condominium Manager magazine (Association of Condominium Managers of Ontario), Property Management Magazine and for Multi-Unit Report. In 1993, Mr. Coulter was appointed by the Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes to sit as a building science consultant on the 1995 National Building Code of Canada Standing Committee on the Building Envelope. This committee was responsible for the major rewriting of the National Building Code section on building envelope design. In 1997, Mr. Coulter was reappointed to a second term.
Robert J.G. Muir, B.E.Sc., P.Eng. is Manager of Structural Engineering. A designated consulting engineer (structural and civil) with over 20 years experience. Mr. Muir is responsible for the firm’s structural design and assessment assignments. Has been responsible for the design of pre-engineered bridges supplied to the Caribbean, the United States of America and coast to coast in Canada. Also responsible for the structural design, co-ordination of testing, and construction supervision of various structural building restoration projects in masonry, concrete and steel.
Kevin Shaw, B.Tech.(Arch.Sc.) is a Project Manager with Coulter Building Consultants Ltd., Consulting Engineers and Building Scientists. Mr. Shaw graduated from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute in 1990 with a Bachelor of Technology (Architectural Science) with a major in Building Science. He has also successfully completed the continuing education course "Inspecting Buildings for Asbestos Containing Materials", at the Georgia Institute of Technology (1997) and is an EPA Certified Inspector.As a Project Manager Mr. Shaw is responsible for a variety of project types including; Building Envelope Performance and Correction, Parking Garage and Balcony Surveys, Waterproofing, Reserve Fund Studies, Technical/Performance Audits, Condition Surveys (Due-Diligence), Asbestos Abatement Supervision and Air Monitoring. Mr. Shaw is responsible for all aspects of project management including client liaison, site inspection/review, drawing review, report and specification writing, project and contract administration, work in progress (construction) inspection. Mr. Shaw has recently authored an article for the ACMO Condominium Manager magazine titled "Parking Garage Surveys - An Ounce of Prevention is Worth a Pound of Cure". The article appeared in the fall edition of the magazine (1999).
